A Message from the Secretary-General

Hello! My name is Siya Sawhney, and I have the honor of serving as the Secretary General for Junior DIAMUN 2025. Following the remarkable success of our previous conference, this year’s team is determined to build on our past achievements, while offering both novelty and innovation. Our dedicated team is committed to organizing a conference that embodies the passion and excitement each one of us feels for Model United Nations. I truly look forward to witnessing both eagerness and insight at our conference, and cannot wait to see what you all have to offer.
In the face of escalating climate change, political conflict, and economic instability, the need for awareness, acknowledgment, and action has never been more urgent. International treaties, ceasefires, peacebuilding efforts, and technological adaptation remind us of the power each one of us holds. Though challenges are inevitable, we are encouraged to confront them with determination. With that, it is my honor to welcome you to Junior DIAMUN 2025.

This year, our focus remains on providing a platform to foster fruitful, constructive, and significant debate on the pressing social, humanitarian, political, environmental, and technological challenges that persist around us. As the vision of a unified world slowly slips from our grasp in the midst of these issues, it is imperative to equip future generations with the tools and experience needed to ensure that humanity remains united. Inspired by the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention (UNFCCC) on Climate Change and the United Nations Ocean Conference in 2025, the importance of cooperation and effective discourse is increasingly vital for us to thrive amid adversities, and create the unity we strive for. This culminates in our theme for this year’s conference “Catalyzing global cooperation for a unified world”.

Aligned with our theme, the Junior DIAMUN team has meticulously selected a range of pertinent global topics to nurture the spirit of debate and diplomacy among all delegates. For the 2nd annual conference of Junior DIAMUN, our team presents 6 committees, each emphasizing areas that demand our utmost attention.
Despite the constant reminders of the world’s atrocities, we must remain hopeful and proactive. Our words need to be heard, and Junior DIAMUN provides a platform for that. It is a space, a community for individuals from diverse cultural and intellectual backgrounds to come together and share the one thing we can always rely on, our words.
As we prepare for Junior DIAMUN 2025, I am inspired by the words of Helen Keller: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”. By embodying the spirit of collective strength, we can undoubtedly forge meaningful and transformative discourse. The ability to do this, in the short span of just one day, is what makes Junior DIAMUN truly enlightening.
- Siya Sawhney, Secretary General
